General Dental Practitioner

Role Purpose
The role holder is responsible for providing general Dental primary and preventive dental care, diagnosing diseases, injuries and malformations of teeth and suggesting appropriate treatments. Also, the role is responsible referring the patient to appropriate specialist.
Core Responsibilities
- Evaluates Medical and Dental state, performs oral health assessments including intra & extra oral examination of soft and hard tissue to establish definitive diagnosis, assess treatment options and refer to the appropriate specialist.
- Takes X-ray images as per the requirements received from the clinical staff and re-takes images if required.
- Interprets the findings from the patient’s history, clinical examination, radiographic examination, and from other diagnostic tests and procedures.
- Establishes diagnoses and develop a treatment plans for the conservative cases.
- Discusses the findings, diagnoses, etiology, risks, benefits, and prognoses of the treatment options, with a view to patient participation in oral health management.
- Presents and discusses the sequence of treatment, estimated fees, payment arrangements, time requirements and the patient’s responsibilities for treatment.
- Develops an appropriate comprehensive, prioritized, and sequenced treatment plan.
- Prepares for and supports patients for treatment by practicing universal precautions and infection control, organizing armamentarium, and making dental procedures comfortable for the patients.
- Performs conservative dentistry to treat small and large damaged teeth using all available restorative materials and pins and posts if necessary.
- Manages oral trauma and other emergency situations and participates in on-call Rota to ensure the provision of expertise to the clinic in the event of any crisis.
- Manages medical emergencies in the dental setup.
- Determines the indications and contraindications for the use of drugs used in dental practice, their dosages and routes of administration and write prescriptions for drugs used in dentistry.
Self-Management Responsibilities
- Defines performance goals at the start of the year in discussion with the reporting manager and ensures that the goals are monitored and achieved during the course of the year.
- Takes ownership of his/her own learning agenda by identifying development needs in consultation with the reporting manager and working towards bridging the gaps through various means which go beyond just training.
- Understands the competencies relevant to his/her role and works towards displaying as well as developing these effectively.
- Keeps abreast of relevant professional/industry developments, new techniques and current issues through continued education and professional networks.
- Participate in health campaigns, medical events, and CSR activities, internally and as well as externally whenever required.
Clinical Supervisor Responsibilities
- Maintain high clinical and ethical standards, capable of working in a team, with excellent communication skills and committed to lifelong learning.

- To attend Continuous Medical Education (CME) programs including training courses
- Oversee and review interns’ work procedures.
- Facilitate case selection and supervise longitudinal treatment.
- Conduct performance reviews.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Science or equivalent
- Ensure compliance, accuracy, and quality of clinical documentation.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Science or equivalent
- Active license with either of the following : DOH DHCC, MOH, DHA
Language Skills
- Fluent English (written and spoken) is required, working knowledge of an additional language is an advantage.
Years of Experience
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in Dental care
