Specialist – Academic Writing
Overview:
The purpose of the role is to support MBRU academic community to become better writers and communicators and works with writers of all levels and disciplines on a variety of assignments and projects, such as essays, theses, proposals, lab reports, and research papers
The responsibilities include:
- Work with individual writers during any step of the writing process: invention, draft, revise, edit, publish through in-person or online consultations
- Design, implement, and facilitate writing literacy & orientation programs where required using knowledge of current theory and practice in writing pedagogy
- Conduct Peer Training to ensure the transference of knowledge and skill
- Develop writing resources for the Writing Center and conducting writing workshops
- Present and promote services when and where needed through planned interventions
- Coordinate and liaise with faculty members as appropriate
- Coordinate relationships and/or liaise with vendors providing manuscript editing and publishing services
- Assisting in observing and providing feedback to student writing tutors
- Supporting writers by browsing books, internet sites and researching on assigned topics
Minimum Qualification:
- Master’s degree in Communication or Literature
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in writing and supporting the writing of scientific literature
