Dr. Amer Ahmad Sharif
Dr Amer Ahmad Sharif is the Vice Chancellor of the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU).
Dr Sharif has more than 14 years of senior management experience across the key UAE government healthcare authorities and regulatory bodies. He has steered MBRU since its establishment and has been instrumental in raising the profile of MBRU through its academic programs at the Hamdan Bin Mohammed College of Dental Medicine for dental postgraduates and the College of Medicine.
His desire and drive for excellence has resulted in strengthening of collaborations between MBRU and international academic institutions, including the Queen’s University Belfast – one of the UK’s leading research-intensive universities, and many more around the world.

Dr Sharif has a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in Public Health from UAE University, which included his thesis titled ‘Mapping Out the UAE Health System: Challenges and Recommendations’. He also obtained a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Healthcare Management from the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland (RCSI). Dr. Sharif holds as well a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences from the UAE University.
Dr. Sharif has published numerous articles in reputable medical journals around the world and sits on a number of local boards. In addition to sitting on MBRU Board of Trustees, Dr. Sharif is a member of the Harvard Medical School Center for Global Health Delivery – Dubai Steering Committee; Thomas Jefferson University – Sidney Kimmel Medical College -Center for Research in Medical Education & Health Care, where he is a Visiting Scholar; UAE University – Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Advisory Board, and more.
