This course aims to provide understanding and critical appraisal of the care patients with long term cardiovascular conditions. Students will be introduced to the evidence-based management of a range of conditions with particular reference to establishing the link between genetics and cardiovascular disease, exploring the management and optimization of health of patients presenting with myocardial dysfunction including the use of pharmacotherapeutics. The course will also critically appraise the Specialist Nurses role in the management of the target client group.
