
Billiejoan Rice is a Registered General Nurse who worked in cardio-thoracic, cardiology and coronary care settings prior to transitioning into full-time nurse education in 2002. She is currently employed as a Lecturer (Education) in Queen’s University Belfast and a Bank Nurse at the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust.
Billiejoan obtained a BSc (Hons) in Nursing and a post-graduate Diploma in Education from the University of Ulster. She completed a Masters in Nursing and a Doctorate in Education awarded from Queen’s University, Belfast. Billiejoan teaches undergraduate, adult field and post graduate nurses completing specialist practice and short courses in cardiology. She supervises masters’ students completing research or extended literature reviews on acute care, cardiology and simulation based learning, She is the Professional lead for the adult field of Nursing and the Lead for simulation-based learning in the School of Nursing and Midwifery (QUB). Her research areas of interest include professionalism, interprofessional education, simulation based learning, cardiology and care of the acutely ill adult.
