Catherine Kellett

Contact Faculty

Catherine Kellett is Associate Professor – Surgery at MBRU and an Orthopaedic Surgeon. Dr Catherine received BSc (Hons) from the University of St Andrews and BM BCh from Oxford University. After surgery-in-general training she gained MRCS and was awarded a Royal College of Surgeons of England Research Fellowship. Dr Catherine was Clinical Lecturer, Orthopaedics, Oxford University and Lecturer in Surgery, Somerville College, Oxford. She gained FRCS (Trauma and Orthopaedics), then did fellowships in Geneva and Toronto.  

Catherine has been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in the NHS, UK since 2007. She led the Clinical Skills Centre at University of Dundee. She was Visiting Professor, University of Toronto and Research Collaborator, Mayo Clinic. She was awarded the ABC Travelling Fellowship in 2012. She has taught anatomy and orthopedics at University of Glasgow and has coordinated research at South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre. She led the Musculoskeletal Block at St George’s University London. 

Dr Catherine was Director of Medical Education and Head of Orthopedics in Maldives and led Orthopedics across a group of hospitals in China. 

Dr Catherine was on the British Orthopaedic Association Training Standards Committee, Simulation Lead for Trauma and Orthopaedics Standards Advisory Committee, co-authoring the UK Postgraduate Curriculum. She is on the National Institute of Health Specialties Orthopaedic Scientific Committee, accrediting UAE residency training programs. 

Catherine is Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, has >40 publications, 27 book chapters and was Associate Editor for Heliyon Surgery Journal.
