Dr. Prithishkumar did his MBBS at the Christian Medical College, Vellore, India, and his surgical anatomy training at the Institute of Anatomy, Madras Medical College and Research Institute, Chennai. He has more than 20 years of teaching experience, having taught various groups of undergraduate medical, dental, and allied health students, and a variety of postgraduate trainees. Before joining MBRU, he worked as a professor of anatomy at the Christian Medical College, Vellore, during which time he was the recipient of the ‘Best teacher of the Year’ award in 2015. Dr. Prithishkumar has made significant contributions to the 16th edition of Cunningham’s Manual of Dissection, published by Oxford University Press. Much of his research is based on the application of anatomical knowledge to newer surgical approaches, minimally invasive procedures, and prosthesis design. He is the Chair of the Student Assessment and Progression Committee at MBRU and has previously served as an external examiner in anatomy at several medical universities in India.
