Iyad, is an associate professor in pediatric dentistry, who joined Hamdan Bin Mohammed College of Dental Medicine (HBMCDM) and MBRU in July 2014 and has continuously worked since then, as part of the college’s and Dubai Health’s pediatric dentistry team to provide clinical, research and academic specialist training of postgraduate residents. In addition, he is a Dubai Health Authority licensed “Consultant Pediatric Dentist” at Dubai Dental Hospital and AlJalilla Children’s Specialty Hospital. He provides surgical and non surgical pediatric dental treatment for all children aged from 0-18 years under inhalation sedation, local and general anesthesia.
Iyad holds the title and license of “Specialist in Pediatric Dentistry” of the United Kingdom’s General Dental Council (GDC-UK) since 2001 and has continuous British Full GDC-UK Registration since 1999 (GDC No 77094). Iyad has 35+ years of experience in various aspects of dentistry and has “Membership of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow” (MFDSRCPSGlasg).
Prior to joining MBRU, he worked across the UK for over 24 years , where he occupied various clinical and academic posts in England and Scotland. His last posts involved working for 16 years at Dundee Dental School and Hospital (Scotland) providing teaching, clinical training and examining in pediatric dentistry, restorative dentistry and oral surgery/medicine. He gained his specialty training at Leeds Dental Institute (England) between 1991 and 1995 where he completed his Master of Dental Science in Pediatric Dentistry (MDentSci). Iyad’s Alma Mater was the University of Damascus (Syria) where he qualified with a Doctor of Dental Science (DDS) in 1990. He has an interest in dental caries, dental anxiety, periodontology, oral medicine, and oral surgery in pediatric dentistry. He has 50+ publications in international dental journals, and is an international, regional and local speaker in his field.
