CORE is IoL’s dedicated research center, driving educational research, translating evidence into everyday practice, and promoting the adoption of emerging technologies throughout the learning health system. Its mission is to enhance health outcomes via discovery.
We advance healthcare excellence through evidence-based education and research that translate directly into improved quality of care. Grounded in implementation science, our work bridges learning, health, and technology to ensure research leads to real-world impact.

We investigate which teaching and learning approaches have the greatest impact on healthcare professionals’ competence, performance, and patient outcomes. This includes continuing education program effectiveness, simulation-based learning outcomes, assessment methodology innovation, technology-enhanced learning, and interprofessional education.

We research how educational innovations successfully translate into sustainable practice change across the healthcare workforce. Our work covers implementation frameworks applied to education, barriers and facilitators to adoption, change management strategies, knowledge translation, and sustainability and scale-up of educational innovations.

We engage in large-scale research collaborations with external institutions and international organizations to advance healthcare education science. Examples of this include multi-institutional collaborative studies, external funding partnerships, technology and innovation research, workforce development studies, and international scholarly collaboration
