The largest medical simulation center in the Dubai, Khalaf Ahmed Al Habtoor Medical Simulation Center is a fully accredited medical education and training facility, equipped with hospital-grade equipment to support healthcare professionals by providing an authentic environment to practice in. Incorporating MBRU’s values, we aim to educate and improve skills in patient care by creating a patient journey from pre-admission to discharge, showcasing realistic hospital environments and a clinical skills lab, to better educate our students and the wider medical community. The Simulation Center facilities are available for hire by healthcare professionals and educators.
The Simulation Center is the only center in the UAE which is fully accredited by Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH).
The Simulation Center is an International Training Center of the American Heart Association. It was established in 2014 starting with Basic Life Support Courses. Currently, the Simulation Center offers both Basic and Advanced Life Support Courses as well as Heart Saver First Aid CPR AED Course.
Simulated Patient Program
Simulated Patients [SP] are carefully recruited and trained people who portray the roles of patients or family members to allow students to practice physical examination skills, communication skills, team exercise etc.
The Simulated Patient Program at the Simulation Center has a bank of SPs from different nationalities, age and gender. It serves as a vital educational support program at MBRU enhancing the teaching and assessment needs for internal and external courses and programs.

Commitment to the Community
A pillar of our strategy at MBRU is community engagement. To continue to support and serve our community, we have established outreach programs that help us give back, these include:
• Teddy Bear Hospital
MBRU’s Teddy Bear Hospital, is a community engagement initiative, the first of its kind in the UAE to promote healthcare awareness and help children overcome their fear and anxiety of visiting a hospital. Read more
• Destination Medicine @ MBRU
Destination Medicine @ MBRU is primarily focused on inviting potential students interested in pursuing a career in healthcare and orient them to the facilities and courses available at MBRU. For more information, please click here
• Simulated patient Program
People from the community who are interested in contributing to the development of health care professionals may be chosen to work as Simulated Patients. These individuals are carefully recruited and trained.
• Hands Only Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation [CPR] Event
Majority of cardiac emergency survivors attribute their second chance in life due to immediate life saving measures, especially early CPR offered by bystanders. At MBRU, we train the community how to perform Hands-Only CPR – so that they can help deliver life-saving care until professional responders arrive.
The Simulation Center allows for various scenarios that can follow the patient journey through a simulated hospital environment from pre-admission to discharge. This begins with the pre-hospital transfer of the patient, from the ambulance to the Emergency Department. The admission of the patient will follow from the Emergency Department to the CT Scanner or the inpatient areas of the Operating Room or Intensive Care areas. The patient would then continue on their journey to the multiple ward environments and consultation rooms, to further patient education and consultation to round off the care pathway.
