Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU) held its first Board of Trustees meeting for the academic year 2020-2021 virtually, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, MBRU’s Chancellor and Chairperson of the Board. At the meeting they discussed MBRU’s efforts within Dubai’s COVID-19 Command and Control Center, the University’s role as a research university, and MBRU’s overall achievements in alignment with its strategy.

At the meeting, Dr. Amer Sharif, MBRU’s Vice Chancellor, briefed the Board on the new programs offered at MBRU this year including the launch of the College of Nursing and Midwifery, which offers two master postgraduate programs: Master of Science in Cardiovascular Nursing and Master of Science in Pediatric Nursing, in addition to the newly launched Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences offered through MBRU’s College of Medicine, and a dental internship program, the 1^st in Dubai, offered through the Hamdan Bin Mohammed College of Dental Medicine.

The meeting was attended by members of the Board of Trustees including Her Excellency Dr. Raja Easa Al Gurg, Vice Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, His Excellency Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention, His Excellency Humaid Mohammed Al Qatami, Director General of Dubai Health Authority, His Excellency Abdullah Abdul Rahman Al Shaibani, His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Mohamed Al Karam, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), and Professor Ian Greer, President & Vice Chancellor of Queen’s University Belfast. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Amer Sharif, MBRU’s Vice Chancellor, and Professor Alawi Alsheikh-Ali, MBRU’s Provost and Dean of College of Medicine.
