Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU) has recorded another milestone in Dubai’s recovery from the global pandemic by administering 100,000 COVID-19 vaccination doses.

MBRU partnered with Dubai Health Authority (DHA) to launch the vaccination campaign using the unique Wellness on Wheels mobile clinics, Dubai’s first-of-a-kind mobile clinic to provide medical assistance to the community members at their doorstep. The mobile clinics have been vaccinating people at their homes as well as their workplaces to enhance the community’s accessibility to healthcare services.

Two mobile clinics – one of which was donated by the Al Jalila Foundation – are staffed by volunteer healthcare specialists from Dubai Health Authority.

“MBRU’s mission is to advance health in the UAE and the region through an integrated academic health system, and this partnership with DHA translates the common values and objectives shared between both institutions to ensure enhancing health outcomes for all. We are very grateful to Al Jalila Foundation and all supporters of the Wellness on Wheels initiative whose generosity allowed the project to become a reality today impacting the lives of the community,” said Dr. Amer Mohammed Al Zarooni, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Administration and Professional Services, MBRU, Supply Chain Team Leader, Dubai COVID-19 Command and Control Center, and Director of the Wellness on Wheels Program, MBRU.

Since its launch, the Wellness on Wheels initiative has provided a wide range of free services through its mobile clinics including medical consultation, medical services, occupational health services, dental services, and referral services. The vision behind Wellness on Wheels is to contribute to a healthier community by reaching the underprivileged individuals. Moreover, serving senior citizens and blue-collar workers through this community mobile health clinic, is a realization of MBRU’s vision to ultimately serve humanity.
