Under the Patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance, and President of the Dubai Health Authority MBRU Partakes in AEEDC
Under the theme “Education & Innovation Transfer” Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU) participated in the UAE International Dental Conference & Arab Dental Exhibition (AEEDC) Dubai which took place at the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC) on February 6-8, 2018. AEEDC Dubai is the largest dental event in the MENASA region and the second largest dental event in the world.
AEEDC Dubai was inaugurated on Tuesday, February 6th, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance, and President of the Dubai Health Authority. The exhibition gathered more than 150 international and regional speakers who delivered lectures and hands-on workshops on various aspects of dentistry. The exhibition showcased the latest technologies and products from more than 4700 exhibiting companies.
MBRU showcased its Hamdan Bin Mohammed College of Dental Medicine (HBMCDM) postgraduate programs. The 3-day event was a success, there were a surge of dental graduates who were interested in the postgraduate programs. A number of dental students from HBMCDM met with prospective students who came from various educational backgrounds. HBMCDM offers a number of programs in various specialties such as endodontics, prosthodontics, and orthodontics to name a few, and graduates are recognized as specialists upon graduation by the UAE health authorities.
Currently, UAE nationals, particularly females, make up a large percentage of the student body, and the remaining number of students come from a number of countries across the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and North America.
Dr. Khawla Belhoul, Assistant Dean for Clinical Affairs and Assistant Dean for Student-Alumni Happiness and Wellbeing said: “We’re very happy to be back at AEEDC this year, we’ve been partaking in this exhibition since 2013. It’s truly a great platform for us to meet dentists, dental students, and academicians. We always return because we found that a lot of general dentists and dental students are eager to learn about graduate specialty programs. At HBMCDM we offer a number of programs in various specialties such as Orthodontics, Endodontics, and Pediatric dentistry to name a few. As part of our postgraduate programs our dental students get to work with patients at Dubai Dental Clinic, MBRU’s clinical partner, which has recently been expanded to 63 fully-equipped dental chairs. Over the course of the 3-days I met with a number of senior-year dental students from the UAE and the region who expressed a great deal of interest in joining us.”
