UAE Minister of Community Development Signs Tolerance Pledge and Witnesses Activities for Orphans During visit to MBRU on Labor Day
Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU) welcomed Her Excellency Hessa Bint Essa Buhumaid, UAE Minister of Community Development for a special visit on International Labor Day, coinciding 1st May each year during which Her Excellency signed the MBRU’s Doctor’s Tolerance Pledge and met with orphan children at an event at Dubai Dental Hospital (DDH), the clinical arm of MBRU
Her Excellency toured the university and signed the “Doctor’s Tolerance Pledge” which was launched recently by MBRU in the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mabarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Tolerance, and is designed to further promote and enhance cooperation, unity, inclusivity and diversity for students and faculty within MBRU as part of its efforts to promote the healthcare sector in the UAE and create a comprehensive and innovative healthcare system to serve humanity
Her Excellency witnessed the Teddy Bear Dental Hospital event for orphans at DDH where the hospital’s dental healthcare professionals spoke to a group of 20 children about the importance of good oral hygiene. Teddy Bear Dental Hospital is a program launched by DDH designed to teach children hands-on about medical procedures and to decrease any preconceived fears of doctor visits.
Her Excellency also witnessed the Labor Day activity, a collaboration with Mediclinic City Hospital, MBRU’s clinical academic affiliate, and DDH where 150 members of MBRU’s facilities management workforce, including maintenance, cleaning and security staff, received a complimentary health check-up involving blood test, blood pressure and weight measurement
“It was an honor to have Her Excellency Hessa Buhumaid visit to the University,” MBRU Vice Chancellor Dr. Amer Sharif commented. “As it coincided with Labor Day, the Minister’s visit gave us the perfect opportunity to demonstrate how we are engaging communities to provide them with qualified medical and healthcare personnel who are able to efficiently address various health issues in line with our mission to advance health in the UAE and the region, through an innovative and integrated academic health system”
Dr. Sharif added that the visit of Her Excellency the UAE Minister of Community Development, the activities of Labor Day and Dubai Dental Hospital align with MBRU’s goals to continuously engage with the community and achieve excellence in medicine and health sciences
