Dr. Ahmed Ghoneima is a Professor and Chair of Orthodontic and Pediatric Dentistry Department at Hamdan Bin Mohammed College of Dental Medicine (HBMCDM), Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU). He received his Dental Degree, Master of Science and Ph.D. from Al-Azhar University in Egypt. He also received his Master of Science and Certificate in Orthodontics from Indiana University School of Dentistry. Dr. Ghoneima is board certified in Orthodontics, a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and holds a qualified dentist designation by the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM).

His research focuses on the fields of three-dimensional (3D) image analysis, registration and superimposition techniques, airway analysis for sleep apnea patients, and the application of virtual reality in dental education. Dr. Ghoneima has authored many publications as well as several book chapters about 3D imaging in Orthodontics and Cephalometric Analysis. He also serves as a peer reviewer for a number of scientific journals in the field of Orthodontics. His research was recognized by the Charley Schultz Scholar Award from the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO). Dr. Ghoneima has been granted two US provisional patents for his inventions “Biomechanics Sequential Analyzer” and “Automated Dental Expander and Orthopedic Distractor”.

Dr. Ghoneima has also been recognized for his excellence in teaching when he received multiple prestigious awards including the Michael Matlof Memorial Teaching Fellowship Award and Orhan C. Tuncay Teaching Fellowship Award from the American Association of Orthodontists Foundation (AAOF) and the Academy for Academic Leadership (AAL) Award. Dr. Ghoneima is an active member in the American association of Orthodontists, American Dental Education Association, American Association of Dental Research, and other organizations.
