Physician can provide patients with resources to help them stay engaged in their health, which can be the difference between the path to wellness or a possible readmission. Engaging patients in their medical care and treatment decisions often reduces costs and leads to better outcomes. The following key e-resources are available in the library to educate and empower patients to help themselves to achieve the best state of health possible through their own actions.
Databases are accessible to everyone on campus, remote access to the resources is limited to registered members of the library. UpToDate is only available to MBRU students, faculty and staff.
Patient education resources in NRC plus includes handouts based on the best available evidence, easy to read content and user friendly formatting, thousands of detailed medical illustrations, custom Print to allow users to add personalised care notes and much more.
UpToDate patient education topics provide information that is consistent with the evidence-based content that clinicians use to make clinical decisions. UpToDate provides more than 1,500 patient education topics, plus more than 1,000 translated into universal Spanish and Arabic, that facilitate clinician-patient communication. Written at an accessible level and infused with pictures and graphics, these materials educate and promote shared decision making based on medical evidence, clinical recommendations, and patient preference.
ClinicalKey provides a wide range of resources across various specialties and the different stages of the patient journey: from assessment and diagnosis, through treatment and managing complications, to discharge information and patient education. Clinical Key provides information to educate and empower patients. The Patient Education materials in ClinicalKey cover conditions, procedures, drugs and behaviours, plus approximately 10,000 individual patient information leaflets. You are able to customise the leaflets by adding additional comments for your patient, and contact details. This allows you to share Patient Education information with individual patients, as a printed handout or electronic pdf file for their personal use.
