Advanced Clinical and Physiological Assessment Skills

4 November 2019

The purpose of health assessment is to gather information from a variety of sources to identify client health needs and illness status, and to plan, implement and evaluate appropriate holistic management. This is a joint process between the nurse and the client and introduces the nurse as the first point of contact in a variety of care settings. Using a range of interventions, students are given the opportunity to complete an assessment of the health of clients in their care. The course aims to integrate theoretical knowledge that underpins the requisite skills necessary for competent health assessment. Consolidation of the taught skill is expected to continue into the clinical environment and continue throughout the duration of the course of study.
