The aim of this course is to prepare students for the periodontal management of patients at HBMCDM clinics through a variety of simulation exercises using dental models and animal cadavers. The course runs for the whole first and second years. In the first year, the exercises cover a wide range of procedures from clinical examination, scaling and root planning, maintenance of hand instruments, dental photography to exercises that cover basic surgical skills and surgical periodontal procedures. In the second year, the students are introduced to basic dental implant treatment planning and advanced periodontal surgical procedures. Hands-on workshops on several implant systems are also arranged.
