Riad Bayoumi Excellence in Research Award
Purpose:
To recognize the faculty member who has most substantially contributed to the scholarship and research mission of MBRU.

Criteria:
- Publications (Journals) – e.g., Number of research publications in top 25,10,5,1 percent as a Principal Investigator/ lead author or Co-author.
- Publications (Books/Book Chapters) – e.g., Local Publisher and/or International Publisher.
- Amount of external grant – i.e., Applicant was awarded the highest amount of research grant in the specialty; e.g. the researcher receiving the largest external award in their respective College (Internal, National/Regional and International grant as PI or Co-PI).
- Student Supervision – e.g., for every student supervised/Co-supervised as Undergraduate, MSc, and/or PhD.
- Patents – The applicant has one or more patents to his name in the academic year. e.g., for every Intellectual Property (IP) to be Filled, Granted, or Commercialized
Mutairu Ezimokhai Excellence in Teaching Award
Purpose:
To recognize excellence in teaching- improving student learning and teaching practice at the University, advancing medical education scholarship and research, and effecting change and improvement at MBRU.

Criteria:
To be awarded, an eligible individual must clearly demonstrate excellence in performance and achievements in any of the components of health sciences education [didactic, clinical and research] when judged against preset criteria, and more generally, their peers.
There are three criteria, each one focusing on a different aspect:
- Criterion 1. Improving student learning and teaching practice
- Criterion 2. Advancing medical educational scholarship and research
- Criterion 3. Effecting change and improvement in the educational workplace
Under each of these criteria there are a series of sub-criteria for response to, as well as providing evidence to support the application.
- Criterion 1. Improving student learning and teaching practice (50%)
- Development and implementation of effective, innovative curricula and assessment strategies.
- Demonstrated measurable excellence in teaching and improving student opportunities and outcomes.
- Demonstrated measurable excellence in academic support, with a focus on research supervision, personal tutoring, or services supporting learning.
- Criterion 2. Advancing medical educational scholarship and research (50%)
- Scholarship and dissemination on topics relevant to health sciences education [grants, publications, presentations, active involvement in research teams, mentoring].
- Utilizing research and data to improve teaching and learning.
- Criterion 3. Effecting change and improvement in the educational workplace (25%)
- Actively contributing to the development and implementation of evidence-based reviews, policies and standards.
- Building major partnerships and alliances.
Excellence Staff Award
Staff Award & Allied Award
Purpose:
To recognize full time staff in MBRU and DDH on grade 4 and above for going beyond their scope to deliver an excellent service.

- Criteria 1 . Doing things out of their scope and in line with the organization (MBRU-DDH) values.
- Criteria 2 . Implemented an approach for process improvement.
- Criteria 3. Contributed exceptionally to the growth of the organization.
- Criteria 4 . Exceptional ability to overcome work challenges.
Under each of these criteria there are a series of sub-criteria for response to, as well as providing evidence to support the application.

- Exhibits commitment for self-development (10%)
- Extended help to colleagues in other departments (10%)
- Voluntary participation in university events and societal activities (10%)
- Criteria 2 . Implemented an approach for process improvement (30%).
- Contribution to quality improvement projects/audits and accreditations (10%)
- Participation in policy / procedure Review and Enhancement (10%)
- Ability to achieve required in a short timeline with outstanding quality (10%)
- Criteria 3. Contributed exceptionally to the growth of the organization (25%).
- Suggest/implement initiative for the improvement of the department/university (15%)
- Cost effective solutions (10%)
- Criteria 4 . Exceptional ability to overcome work challenges (15%)
Innovation Award
Purpose:
To recognize an employee or team of employees with the best innovative idea or project implemented in MBRU.

Criteria:
- OPEN to all Ideas that were implemented within last academic year or any new Idea that would benefit in the enhancement of MBRU and its Community
- Selection of best innovative ideas will be through a process similar to the “Dragon’s Den”.
- Invitations will be made for innovative ideas.
- Innovative application can be filled in the form (max250 words) or be submitted as a video with an elevator pitch or introduction, along with a blurb, and investors pitch deck slides
Guidlines for video:
- Be original for this contest.
- Not infringe on any third-party rights (logos, music, intellectual property, etc.).
- Not include any third parties, including minors, celebrities and friends, who have not expressly authorized the entrant to display his/her image or likeness in a submitted video.
- Be 2 minutes in length or less.
- Be in English.
- Include entrant’s contact information: Name, e-mail and phone number.
Community Engagement Award
Purpose:
To recognize excellence in service that goes beyond the call of duty by a member of the MBRU community.

Exceptional volunteering:
The applicant/nominee should have:
- Demonstrated a significant impact with a tangible benefit to the community.
- Demonstrated long-term community engagement commitment that is measurable, relevant, suitable, and reflective.
- Focused on a specific community identified need or opportunity.
- Participated in a number of volunteering activities.
Enhancing Quality of Student Experience:
- Involve students in community partnership and/ or bring in community initiatives that students can partake internally or externally.
- Contribute to enhance the quality of the undergraduate or postgraduate student experience at MBRU.
Education of the Public:
- Demonstrate the ability to influence public policy and practices in the UAE or regionally that positively impact the community.
- Number and quality of services/workshops/ initiatives provided to the public enhancing their knowledge, and health and well-being.
Consultative Services:
- Exchange knowledge and expertise with external partner or the community and provide consultative service that is unpaid and proves to be of services and positive impact to the community.
- Form or support in forming and facilitating new partnerships with MBRU or building an existing partnership to enhance MBRU’s network of stakeholders thereby engaging more with the community.
Served MBRU Exceptionally through their Presence in University Committees :
- Employee who sit on high workload committees, or those who serve on the largest number of committees.
